The ranking of countries with the most water stress

Water stress is a growing global problem that affects the availability of clean and safe water for millions of people. In this ranking, countries are classified by the severity of their water stress, ranging from extremely high to low. Countries with extremely high water stress, such as Qatar, Israel and Lebanon, face a high demand for water in relation to available resources. This can lead to shortages, conflicts and economic challenges. On the other hand, countries with low water stress, such as Canada and Finland, are in a more advantageous position with abundant water resources. The image below shows the full ranking and provides insight into which regions are most vulnerable to water-related problems.

Een kleurrijke ranglijst van landen op basis van waterstress, opgesteld door het World Resources Institute. De lijst is onderverdeeld in vijf categorieën: extreem hoge, hoge, medium-hoge, laag-middelhoge en lage waterstress. Landen zoals Qatar, Israël en Libanon vallen onder extreem hoge waterstress, terwijl landen zoals Canada, Finland en Nieuw-Zeeland een lage waterstress hebben.
